Our Philosophy and Purpose

All-Faiths Seminary International is modeled on the ancient schools of wisdom, where in-depth training and experience were imparted through personal association. The institute serves as an alternative for those who feel a calling to ministry but who do not feel that the doctrinal focus and structure of traditional seminary education is the right avenue of training and preparation for them

We are fostering a new focus on the clergy person as a spiritual practitioner, as distinguished from the traditional role of the clergy person as functionary. This focus upon the practical and service aspects of ministry — as distinguished from the administrative and organizational focus comprising much of the curriculum of more traditional seminaries — is a key element of our programs of study.

The school's programs equip the student to lead worship services and other group activities or act as a spiritual counselor in private practice. We see peer spiritual leadership and grass roots spiritual expression as an effective and valid form of personal ministry.

Graduate ministries may become manifest as "Living Room Ministries," hospital and prison chaplaincies, Interfaith service projects within the community, or simply as a commitment to sharing of one's own search for spiritual truth.

Committed to the integrity of the individual and the individual's own spiritual search, All-Faiths Seminary International fosters respect for all paths leading toward a deepening of one's relationship with one's own conception of God. Students are welcomed from all faiths and religious viewpoints. Our classes and workshops support open dialogue and mutual discovery of the value in all religions. We seek to develop the common ground of spirituality. All-Faiths Seminary International is not meant to supplant traditional religious seminaries. Rather, we see ourselves as a timely and valuable additional resource for the spiritual growth of the global community.
